I am a Martian

We are not the same, I am a Martian
So approach my Phantom doors with caution
You see them 24′s spinnin? I earned them
I ain’t no preacher but here’s my Erick Sermon

Artist: The Game

New Category: Fresh Rhymes

I don’t know how long this “Fresh Rhymes” category will last, but I’m putting it up now because there are so many examples of excellent wordplay out there.

I only wish I could be so quick and on point as some of the examples I will be posting soon.

Metallica is BACK!

I never thought I’d hear or see the day when Metallica starts recovering from their recent shittiness. I remember asking former co-worker Eddie James a few months back: “What if Metallica’s next album is totally awesome?”

I was joking at the time, but as it turns out, Metallica’s most recent album is indeed quite awesome!

Considering the circumstances of reality, the new Metallica album (Death Magnetic) doesn’t blow me completely away like their first 4 albums, but it certainly seems to have the capability to do so once I’ve listened to it as many times as the first 4. I’m totally stoked and relieved that Metallica, once the greatest metal band ever, is starting to push back into that position.

And here is the true Metallica discography, according to me:

  • Kill ‘Em All, 1983

  • Ride the Lightning, 1984

  • Master of Puppets, 1986

  • …And Justice for All, 1988

  • Death Magnetic, 2008

As you can see, it’s been a long, long time coming…

Kraftwerk Sample – Fearless Four

Kraftwerk – The Man Machine

Fearless Four – Rockin´ it

Kraftwerk – Autobahn

This is indeed the finest presentation of Kraftwerk’s musical process I’ve seen so far:

And here’s a full live version of Autobahn:

Kraftwerk, you are the pinnacle of German Avant-Garde Musique!

Polite Dance Song

I’ve been sitting on this video for months now, and I’ve finally decided to put it on this blog:

I love this video.

Christian and Satanic Metal Videos

Tourniquet – Ark of suffering

Tourniquet was one of my favorite christian metal bands back in the day. Here’s an early song by them about animal torture:

Deicide – Homage for Satan

And here’s an awesome Deicide video by the name of ‘Homage for Satan’:

Today’s Favorite YouTube Videos

After working late for two nights, I forced myself to do absolutely nothing today. Hooray for me!

When I say “absolutely nothing” it usually means watching music videos on the youtube.

So, for lack of any recent interesting art pieces on my part, I will wimp out and post some of my favorite youtube videos. This post could become completely worthless, but here we go anyway:

HORSE the band – New York City

Naglfar – The Perpetual Horrors

Cradle Of Filth – Nymphetamine

Cryptopsy – The Pestilence That Walketh In Darkness

I have no idea how long these video links will last, as it seems content frequently gets deleted or moved on the youtubez.

Death Metal, Two Drawings

Wow, I’m listening to the early Entombed album, Left Hand Path and it’s excellently amazing me how much Mortification’s Scrolls of the Megilloth gained from this band.

As an athiest, I try not to talk about christian death metal much, but I fail on occasion.

Anyway, here are two drawings:

Man, Skull, and Bird

Art, Music, and Work

I was just reading some journal entries from people on the livejournal, and it inspired me to write another entry. Usually, I think of good things to write whenever my computer is off. Then I forget about them.

So here’s today’s entry of importance:

I’m trying to get some of my paintings back from a local tax business/art gallery here in Iowa City, and I have found that is difficult to do when operating on this damned night-work sleeping schedule, which I will hopefully not be talking about much longer. I overslept about a half hour on my day off and missed the (kind of) appointment I had with the owner dude, so I will see him on a weekday, I imagine.

Furthermore, my good friend from the Kansas City Art Institute sent me a good CD of mp3s for Christmas, and I would be listening to those. Iron Maiden, Kraftwerk, David Bowie, Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, and Grob are always good for a quality listen.

The other day I was having trouble falling asleep, so I thought of all the shitty short-term manual labor jobs I’ve had in the past and present. It was a good technique to get me tired, and I do recommend it.
